Syllabus for the week of September 15, 2008

FOCUS: Consumer organisms

WOD: a comprehensive list of vocabulary words that will be used, studied, and quizzed the entire year. WOD will be listed in BOLD. Write the date, word, and definition in your planner each day.

SCIENCE PAPER: Write a brief summary of the article (analyze), Connect and Apply the ideas from the article to a topic in class/experience (synthesize), and Express your
personal opinion on the article (criticize). Each section should have three details each. Each paper will be worth 10 point.

Monday: (DECIDUOUS/CONIFEROUS) Consumers. What is the difference between producers and consumers? What is the role of the consumer? What types are there?
HW: No homework.

Tuesday: (FLORA/FAUNA)
Decomposers. What are they? Why are they so important? Darwin idea of common decent. What did he accomplish?
HW: Consumer worksheet

Wednesday: (AUTOTROPH/HETEROTROPH)
Taxonomy/Classification of organisms. H-P-C-O-F-G-S. Where did it come from?
HW: No homework.

Thursday: (EVOLUTION)
Common names and their scientific names. How are they written? Binomial Nomenclature (Genus Species)
HW: Biologic Classification/Taxonomy Worksheet

Friday: (TAXONOMY)
Correct Biologic Classification/Taxonomy Worksheet. Review Producers & Consumers information.
HW: Study and review information on producers and consumers.
