Syllabus for the week of October 27, 2008

FOCUS: POPULATION/COMMUNITY TEST & cont. Ecosystem

WOD: a comprehensive list of vocabulary words that will be used, studied, and quizzed the entire year. WOD will be listed in BOLD. Write the date, word, and definition in your planner each day.

Monday: (MORTALITY) Discuss vacations & pictures from your vacations and label them on a class map where each type of biome is located in the world. Keep pictures to add to your slide later next week. Begin Study Guide with a partner.
HW: Complete Study Guide.

Tuesday: (LONGEVITY) STUDY SESSION FOR TEST AT LUNCH FOR PERIODS 3 & 4!!!
Review study guide.
HW: Study population & community study guide.

Wednesday: (COMMUNITY) STUDY SESSION FOR TEST AT LUNCH FOR PERIODS 7, 8, & 9!!!
POPULATION & COMMUNITY TEST.
HW: No homework.

Thursday: (SUCCESSION) Ecological Succesion. Have forest plants and animals always existed? What characteristics determine a biome?
HW: Ecological Succession wks.

Friday: (BIOME) Read Chapter 2 in the Environmental Science textbook and complete the Chapter Review Questions 1-20 in class.
HW: Use a blank map of the world to create a biome map identifying each of the biome in the textbook. [HARDER- Use a single continent map and create a similar map identifying each biome and major cities]

Reminders:
* GREEN IDEA (from students): Bring in any outside house plants inside if you still can.
* PARENT/GUARDIAN(S): We still need four parents for emergency caller. Please email.
* MR. APOSTOL’S ADV.: Breakfast Thursday. Please arrive at 8:00 am and bring a healthy snack to class.
* DONATION: Used or new winter coats
* NEXT WEEK: Ecosystems continued & computers on Thursday, November 6th.
