Syllabus for the week of February 2, 2009

FOCUS: Stars locating and strength. TEST on Friday.
WOD: a comprehensive list of vocabulary words that will be used, studied, and quizzed the entire year. WOD will be listed in BOLD. Write the date, word, and definition in your planner each day.
Monday: () ISAT WARM UP - Begin each day answer the selected questions as soon as you enter the room. You will only be given five minutes to attempt the questions. Using objects in our room locate the objects right ascension (hours) and declination (degrees).
HW: No homework.
Tuesday: () How can you tell how bright/big/far something is? Apparent and Absolute Magnitude/Distance/Size. Use the equation to calculate the loss of light when distance between light source and viewer is changed.
HW: Calculating loss of star brightness
Wednesday: () Report directly to the media center. Enter information on how to locate stars using right ascension and declination. HW: Study handouts and written material on the back of the past two syllabi.
Thursday: () STUDY SESSION TODAY AT LUNCH
Report directly to the media center. Enter in information on how to calculate the change in brightness of stars based the distance of stars HW: Study
Friday: () Astronomy Test - Stars
HW: Prepare for the next WOD test. WOD #4 over 90 words.
Reminders:
* GREEN & HEALTHY IDEA (from students): Go out and walk your dog more than usual for an added workout and for your pet's enjoyment
* PARENT/GUARDIAN(S): IMPORTANT - Conference Confirmation sheets coming home. Conference night is Thursday February 12th.
* MR. APOSTOL’S ADV.: Thursday - Bring something markers, colored pencils, etc. to decorate your folder.
