Syllabus for the week of March 23, 2009

FOCUS: Introduction to Chemistry

WOD: a comprehensive list of vocabulary words that will be used, studied, and quizzed the entire year. WOD will be listed in BOLD. Write the date, word, and definition in your planner each day.

Monday: (MATTER) Elements worksheet. What is the law of conservation of mass/matter? How does it relate to the periodic table of elements?
HW: Create a card that indicates the following information: 1) Element symbol & element name on the front 2) Interesting information and uses for your element. Due tomorrow.

Tuesday: (MASS) What is mass? How do you change mass?
HW: Balance (Mass) worksheet

Wednesday: (WEIGHT) Answer the balance worksheet. What is the difference between mass and weight? What would your weight be on another planet?
HW: No homework.

Thursday: (VOLUME) Irregular Volume measurement. Initial volume + object volume = final volume.
HW: Irregular volume

Friday: (DENSITY) Regular Volume measurement.
HW: Enjoy your break and be good even if you have to do spring cleaning. Good luck to any Shamrock Shuffle runners.

* PARENT/GUARDIAN(S): Bring your golden rod elective sheets. Due by Thursday.
